Despite the fact that Apple’s newest laptop is called the MacBook m2, there are already many rumors about the new model. Some think that Apple is working on a new SoC that will be featured in the next MacBook Air, and others believe it could even be used in a 13-inch MacBook Pro. Regardless of its future uses, it’s clear that Apple is perfecting the MacBook m2 and its successor. M2 맥북 키보드 추천
Apple is working on a new SoC
The next-generation silicon from Apple is dubbed M2, and it will replace the M1 chip in MacBooks. We’ve already seen M1 chips powering MacBook Pro 2021 and the new MacBook Air, but the M2 will be more efficient and capable. We can expect the M2 chip to be used in the refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro in 2022, and an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro in 2023.
Besides the new M2 chip, the latest MacBooks will also include a redesign. The new MacBook Air is expected to sport slimmer off-white bezels and a white keyboard, similar to the current MacBook Pro. The updated Mac mini and the new 16-inch MacBook Pro will also use the new chip. If the new chip makes its way to market before 2022, it’s possible that the new MacBooks will launch in early 2022.
It will feature in the next MacBook Air
The new MacBook Air may not have the mini-LED display, but it is likely to keep the same 13-inch display. However, unlike the current models, it is not expected to include ProMotion technology, which increases the screen’s refresh rate beyond 60 Hz. It is also expected to feature an upgraded webcam, like the new one found in the MacBook Pro. While the webcam on the current model is 1080p, it’s unlikely that Apple will follow suit.
Another likely addition to the new MacBook Air is the MagSafe connector, which is a reversible connector that prevents dog paws from snagging the charging cable. The MagSafe was dropped from the current MacBook Air model due to fire safety concerns, but it is expected to return to the next model. The new MacBook Air may also support fast charging using a 96W power adapter. Apart from this, it is also expected to feature an HDMI port for connecting to larger screens.
It could be used in a 13-inch MacBook Pro
If Apple is planning to launch a new macbook, there’s a good chance the M1 chip will be included. Apple is known for their custom processors, which are used in the iPhone and iPad. Now, the M1 chip could be used in a 13-inch model. This new chip could be the answer to the long-running question, “Could the M1 processor be used in a 13-inch MacBook Pro?”
The new M1 chip is a huge improvement over the Intel chips that the MacBook Pro previously had. The new chip is faster and improves battery life. It’s a shame that only the $1,399 version comes with 512GB SSD. The 16GB memory in the lower-end MacBook Pro can’t be upgraded later. Fortunately, you can find a 13-inch MacBook Pro for $150 off at Amazon.
It will have more Thunderbolt controllers
Intel is unveiling a new generation of Thunderbolt controllers at its IDF conference in San Francisco, and those devices are expected to ship in the second quarter of next year. The new controllers will be compatible with Ivy Bridge processors, and should help to convince more PC vendors to support Thunderbolt. Already, several vendors have unveiled new Thunderbolt products, including interesting dock/hub solutions.
The final Thunderbolt standard specifies that 10 W DC per port is required. While this may sound like a lot, many PCs and Macs already have separate interfaces. In fact, most Thunderbolt-enabled computers use a mini-displayPort connector. Unlike USB, Thunderbolt connectors don’t require a major redesign of hardware. As a result, it will require a larger power supply.
It will have more power
During the WWDC22, Apple could unveil an M2 MacBook Air and Mac Mini. The new MacBook Pros should also use the new M2 chip, and should launch during the second half of 2022. Apple hasn’t discussed specific details of the M2 MacBook Air, but we can expect it to include a 4nm or 5nm process, more cores in the GPU, and higher memory capacities.
The new chip may be able to handle more tasks at once. It’s based on a 5NP architecture. It will probably have fewer cores, but should be more power efficient than the current MacBook M1. The new chip should help the MacBook M2 run faster and last longer. It will also be much cheaper than the current MacBook Pro. But the cost of a new GPU might make the M2 a better option than the current MacBook Pro.
